“Over the shoulder” model by KLEMM in PHILADELPHIA.

Born around 1795 in Neukirchen in Saxony, John and Georges KLEMM emigrated to the United States in 1815.

They opened a musical instrument store in Philadelphia in 1819, and later developed a large manufacturing workshop there.

This instrument “with the bell on the shoulder” is characteristic of the military orchestras during the Civil war.

Mechanism with three rotary pistons of the American type.

Vintage mouthpiece.
