“CABRETTE”; French Bagpipe. Made By Benoit AMADIEU in PARIS. (1804-1877)

This exceptional instrument is that played at the Universal Exhibition of Paris and the inauguration of the Effel Tower in 1889.

Made by the most celebrated Cabrette maker, considered to be the inventor, this boxwood bagpipe is stamped on the chanter: “AMADIEU à PARIS”.

Ivory stock with a large silver ring showing the medals awarded at the “Concours des Musiques Pittoresques” (Traditional Music concourse) of the Universal Exhibition, July 4th 1889,

and the name of the musician: Jean AMBERNY, second award. (famous period french piper)
