HIMALAYA LUTE.
Adopted for the ascetic cults of Bauls, the DOTARA or DOTORA is a wooden lute to be related to the Yemen Qanbus family.
Its name, probably from persian origin, characterizes a long neck lute played in central Asia, (Dotar/Dutar) but its organological particularities
classify it in the Tarab or Qanbus tradition, coming from the Arabic Peninsula, with different types in a large part of Asia.
The body and neck from one piece of wood terminated with a carved pegbox, representing a meditating or contemplating figure.
The old skin has been preserved.
The neck has an old mark of repair.
The pegs and the bridge absent were replaced.
